Urban Warfare

The Special Forces focus during the 1950s to 1970s was on operations behind enemy lines in a rural environment. Some specialty courses focused on operations in an urban environment usually with an intelligence gathering lens.

The 1970s brought more attention to the problem of terrorism - much of which took place in an urban environment. Eventually Special Forces adopted some specialty training course (like SFAUC) to become more able to operate in urban environments.
